昨天翘班在家，今天回到公司，好些同事问我地震有没有影响到家里，对大家的关心很感动呢。

上班忍不住继续关心地震的照片报道更新，看着瓦砾中被压着的学生，我哭了。

 

中国和香港的红十字会网站好像都down掉了，我是在mercy corp捐的:

 

Mercy Corp的overhead只有12%，相对红十字会的30%好多了。

 

大家捐之前可以看看你的公司会不会match。另外，西联给mercy corp上的地震捐款有upto 250K的match。捐款可以扣税，当然前提是你要Itemize。

 

 

一早，闹钟响了。听着窗外淅淅沥沥的雨声，头居然痛起来。

也好，可以用掉一天病假了。

继续睡下没多久就给震耳欲聋的门铃声吵醒了，彻底醒了。

房东你好烦啊！

打开电脑，看见地震的消息，揪心。

想起重庆还有几个远远房亲戚，不知安否

打开书，读完了上周在Amazon上买的一本关于房地产的书

得到的结论就是美国经济一时半会好不了了，沮丧

继续读书，国家地理杂志五月份的中国特刊

内容很丰富，也挺客观的。

不过amy tan的那篇好啰嗦，我是读了一大半实在读不下去了才发现原来是她写的

看来我还真是不喜欢她写的东西

晚餐胡乱打发掉了，要开始学习了。

 

 

 

 

礼拜二下午回到家，昏睡了两天，时差现已倒过来了。

 

大马：太阳过敏。最后只在Mount. KK里面待了半天，没有潜水，十分郁闷

广州：遭遇台风，天天下雨。头痛了几天，就窝在被窝看了几天电视。没有做任何建设性的事情

香港：逛了半天街，收获了一件衣服，一条裙子后就竟然没有购物欲了

 

过了一个没有任何度假心情的假期。剩下的8个月要乖乖的呆在城里，更加苦闷。

 

 

长周末后上班最没精神。上午开溜跑去马领馆后就琢摩着下班了.

 

最振奋的新闻是Bear Stearns涨了120%+， 又让我郁闷了一番

今天看了The devil came on horseback，讲苏丹Darfur 的种族清洗。看到了中国建的炼油厂

今天也看了网上关于西藏的新闻

今天还看了娱乐八卦，知道汤唯被封杀

这个，反政府情绪又给激发了。这一点，我倒是小到大都没变，赫赫。 

 

 

American Idol is one of the few shows that I do follow.

David & Michael are my favourites among the guys for this season  :)

 

 

有三个月没有看戏了。一到冬天就只想整天躲在被窝里，挂个大饼在脖子上，不想出门，不知道其他属蛇的同学们是不是也是这个样子。

 

上周和小秘聊天，她力荐A bronx Tale。这出戏早几个月刚出来的时候，我就琢麽着要看，不过同事K（another theatre buff) 一直对Chazz Palminteri 一个人饰演众多角色的能力保持怀疑态度，这在一定程度上大大打击了我的积极性。（她听过我第二天看完戏的回馈后，冒着周五的鹅毛大雪去买票，准备这个周末看）

 

 

 

 

晚上赶回来看了Super Bowl，好精彩！

最后两分多钟，Giants还来了个touch down，把比分赶上来，将不可能变为可能

看得我兴奋的尖叫起来，虽然我不是美式足球迷

但是为Giants的胜利真的感到好高兴

他们的努力和执著，不简单啊

 

 

 

Microsoft Bid for Yahoo for a total of $44.6 billion, $31 per share. The offer represents a 62 percent premium to Yahoo's closing stock price Thursday.

 

It is funny because only yesterday I recommended this stock to my coworkr C. She placed a limit @18 and the order was not filled of course, although I said $19 is good enough. She has been agonized by the banking stocks in the past month and something on her mind blocks her from offerring a higher price, which I sort of understand. yeah, woman, hehe...

 

As for me, I have no cash on hand and dont want to use all of my margin unless I am 100% positive I can make $$$ which no one can guarantee. I dont have the guts, I admit that. While some nut would go all for it, either win big or lose big. Thats why some people can be rich that quickly. The gene difference.

 

It just looks interesting to me how different people digest the same news. With the different mindset, loser will be loser, winner will be winner. I am somewhere stuck in between, not going anywhere. :p

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I finally made an effort to pick up all the mails that sent to my old address from my former landlord, after 1.5 years.

Not many though, cuz my landlord has already done a pre-screen. She threw out all the junk mails  for me with my consent. Among the few that survived, I see this small envelop postmarked from Germany.

 

It is a christmas card, but for last year, from my friend L and his wife. I open the card, a paper angel pops up, which is so cute. On the back of the card, it says " A is for Angel from the pop-up book...The christmas Alphabet by Robert Sabuda". Thats really sweet. But the next second, I was laughing. The idea of him doing the "right" husband-and-wife thing just cracks me up.

 

yeah, so good to have friends who have me on their minds. :)

从小就给教育，买书不如借书，要买只能买工具书。

铭记父训，每每要有买小说的冲动，总能及时地遏止住，去图书馆的网站查查再作决定。

The Kite Runner讲的是男生的故事

于是作者在他的第二本书开始讲女生的故事

同样的煽情

哎，阿富汗...

不得不佩服作者非科班出身讲故事的能力

语言很优美，描述很细致，感情很温暖,女性很伟大

按照我前老板的话说就是

this is another lady's book

还是蛮值得推荐的，虽然有些腻

不过要知道好些New York Times的Best Seller

我都只读了一半甚至才几页就不想读下去了

等慢慢恢复了读书的习惯之后

再来读些严肃点的非潮流的东西吧

过去的这个周末安排了三场戏，Is he dead? Spamalot & The Seafarer。结果，乌龙如我，竟然记错了看Is he dead? 的时间，90刀就这样打水漂了

Spamalot 好无厘头。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The reason I choose Santa Fe is simply that I love Georgia O’keeffe’s paintings so much that I want to check out the museum and all other art works around Santa Fe.

We flew from NYC…Couldn’t find any direct flights, so we had a layover in Houston. Spent about 5 hrs in the plane. Rental car is from Budget, $142 without insurance for 5 days and we ended up paying $189 with insurance.

Santa Fe is full of arts everywhere. Even in the supermarket, the decoration gives me a nice WOW. Downtown Santa Fe is teemed with art galleries, especially on Canyon Road, there are some really upscale ones. This small town is the second largest art market, right after New York City and is also named as the most exotic city in the States. With that said, this is not an ideal destination for kids.

Taos is about 70 miles north from Santa Fe, and home to one of the longest-established Native American populations in the United States. It was once a Spanish colonial outpost, and more recently a hangout for bohemian artists, Besides Georgia, D.H Lawrence stayed in Taos for sometime in the 20s too. Native American community of Taos Pueblo, two miles north is well worth visiting. They charge 10 bucks for entrance ($5 for student) and additional $5 for each camera you bring in. To drive from Santa Fe to Taos, it is always recommended to take the “High Road” for the beautiful scenery.

Los Alamos was originally not on my plan. But to make the guys happy, I had to compromise my shopping spree. This is a well-known place during the WWII, the birth place of the atomic bombs (Manhattan project).

Bandelier National Monument is very close to Los Alamos. You can join the tour from the visitor center, which will give you a detailed description of each ruin site. But you don’t have to, cuz the brochure has very clear explanation. It is just that the guide was actually pretty funny, he is a high school biology teacher retiree. (http://www.nps.gov/band/)  The Frijoles Canyon Trail leading to the ceremonial cave is now my all-time favorite. You can see it from my pic, there are four steep stairs... Bandelier is a very interesting place to me and I strongly recommend it.

Kasha Katuwe national monument is not as popular as Bandelier, but the hiking trail is pretty cool. You walk in the valley first and then climb up and you will see the remarkable geology to layers of volcanic rock and ash from a volcanic explosion.

好几个月没去MOMA了，更长的时间没有在周五下午去MOMA了，谁让俺不用等周五也能蹭到免费门票呢？

 

稀客远来，我总是有求必应的，证明我非重色轻友之徒。 和老板BS了两个小时后，4:40pm接到电话，噔噔噔的跑下楼，朋友已在大堂等着。知道我基本是4:30pm下班后，一连问了好几次我们公司需不需要他这样的人材，呵呵。

 

MOMA有不少变化，首先是Monet的那幅巨型water lily给搬上楼了，好像上次去的时候就搬上去了，不记得了；一楼的墙上画着一个漫画家的好多作品，一直画到天花板，还得我们抬着头傻笑了半个小时；Dali 的Persistence of Memory给借出去了，要到明年中才回家；Picasso的妓女画像(Demoiselles d’avignon) 有一特别展出，包括了他的不同构思和草图；顶楼Richard Serra的special exhibition没有让我特别感冒，不就是几个大铁圈，废弃工厂多着呢，稍微摆设一下，竟可有如此不同待遇……

 

逛博物馆是挺累人的一件事，特别是当你看到的人比展品更多的时候。我们转战到花园，坐在台阶上聊天。清清爽爽的聊了两个小时，没有八卦，让我想起before sunset，很惬意。
